31/07/07 : A juvenile Slaty-backed Forktail was observed in a stream at about 600m at Khao Soi Dao National park on the 25th July. - Bob Harwood

A few interesting species from Sri Nan National Park in Nan province between 22nd and 25th July included a Collared Falconet, a Brown Wood Owl and 10 Brown Needletails. A probable Grass Owl was seen near Nong Khai on the 23rd July.

20/07/07 : Some interesting species from last month include an Oriental Darter and 2 Glossy Ibises at Bung Boraphet on the 24th June. Also seen were Spot-billed Pelican and the more common Striated Grassbird and Pied Kingfisher.

At Doi Inthanon a Brown Wood Owl was seen at checkpoint 2 on the 17th June and 2 Black-tailed Crakes were seen at the campsite ponds on the 19th, with a single bird on the 20th June.

16/07/07 : A Ruddy Kingfisher was seen at Laem Hin, Phuket on the 8th July

A Chinese Francolin was seen calling from a tree at Bang Pra on the 7th July and there were 2 reintroduced Lesser Adjutants and 11 Spot-billed Pelicans.

On the 22nd June 2 male and a female Rufous-necked Hornbill were seen flying across the valley at Chong Yen, Mae Wong. Other birds seen were Green Cochoa, White-necked Laughingthrush and Striated Bulbul.

15/07/07 : The Yonok Wetlands near Chiang Saen held 5 Grass Owls and 3 Black Bitterns with breeding White-browed Crake and Pied Kingfisher all on the 10th July. A Green Sandpiper passed through on the 12th June - a late departure or early return?

Also close to Chiang Saen a Common Kingfisher was seen on the 10th July along with Watercock, breeding Hooded and Blue-winged Pitta and Grass Owl.

6 Black-headed Munias were seen at Khao Sam Roi Yot on the 10th July. - Jim Renny

07/07/07 : A rare rainy season trip to Khao Nor Chu Chi on the 27th June was said to be good for birds; a pair of Black Magpies were seen, Banded, Hooded and Blue-winged Pittas along with Golden-whiskered Barbet, Black-capped, Moustached, Chestnut-winged, and Black-throated Babblers were all found in just one morning.

On the 26th June a trip into the mangroves at Krabi turned up some of the usual suspects; 1 Ruddy Kingfisher, 2 Mangrove Pittas and at least 5 Brown-winged Kingfishers.

03/07/07 : At the Yonok Wetlands near Chiang Saen a River Tern was seen again on the 30th. Also near Chiang Saen 3-5 Grass Owl were found and 8
Hooded Pittas are holding teritories on the 29th.
