26/11/07 : An Oriental Darter was seen close to the British International School on Phuket on 26th November.

The above sighting was taken from Ike Suriwong's Phuket Birder's Blog with his kind permission.

Up to 200 harriers were seen entering a roost at Nong Lom, Chiang Saen and 5 Tufted Duck were present on the lake on the 25th November. On the 23rd raptors seen from Chiang Saen included 3 Rufous-winged Buzzards, 2 Common Buzzards and 5 Oriental Honey-buzzards. A total of 400 Small Pratincoles were also seen.

23/11/07 : A Peregrine Falcon was observed hunting Feral Pigeons from an office block at Chitlom, Bangkok today.

"The falcon seem to favour the tall communications mast on top of the police headquarters at Chitlom." - Jorgen Eriksson.

22/11/07 : A trip to Bang Pra on the 12th November revealed high water levels making it difficult to find quail. Walking through long grass turned up 1 Rain Qauil and 3 Barred Buttonquail. 2 Brown Hawk Owls were seen on a daytime roost and a Thick-billed Warbler was also found. Rufous Treepie was another notable species - Stijn De Win.

20/11/07 : A Brown-winged Kingfisher was seen at Pak Khok, Phuket on the 17th November and a Peregrine Falcon was observed attemtping to catch Asian Palm Swifts.

A male Baer's Pochard was seen on Chiang Saen Lake on the 16th November along with a few Tufted Duck and Ferruginous Duck. A Baillon's Crake was also seen.

On the evening of the 16th both Grass Owl and Great Bittern were seen at Yonok Wetlands.

Some more interesting birds from Yonok Wetlands were 2 Coot, a Great Cormorant, 6 Black Kites, a Crested Bunting and Grass Owls which appeared to be feeding young, all on the 16th November.

18/11/07 : A Wryneck and a Black-headed Ibis were both seen at Bang Pra, Chonburi on the 18th November. - Peter Ericsson.

15/11/07 : A Chestnut-eared Bunting was flushed from a rice field at Yonok Wetlands on the 12th November and on the 11th Chiang Saen lkae held over 100 Spot-billed Ducks.

A flock of over 400 Asian Glossy Starlings was present at the Central-Thai Naan Intersection near Phuket town from the 2nd-4th of November.

08/11/07 : A single White-tailed Tropicbird was reported from Ko Bon, between the Similan and Surin Islands during a diving trip on the 5th November. The bird was seen flying around at close range and then landing on the island slopes and disappearing into a burrow. - Jorgen Eriksson.

07/11/07 : The River Mekong at Chiang Saen held 4 Common Greenshank and 4 Spot-billed Ducks on 7th November.

On the 6th November Yonok Wetlands revealed 2 Red Avadavats but the highlights were at Chiang Saen lake with 2 Baer's Pochards along with what appeared to be 2 Ferruginous Ducks. Over 100 Spot-billed Ducks were also present.

A location close to Yonok Wetlands produced some good birds on the 4th with 31 Amur Falcons, 1 Black Kite, 1 Baillon's Crake, 1 Oriental Cuckoo, 8 Burmese Shrikes and 6 Citrine Wagtails.

An adult male Eurasian Hobby was seen despite persistent rain at Yonok Wetlands on the 3rd.

The highlights amongst the regular shorebirds at Laem Pak Bia/Pak Thale were 2 Lesser Crested Terns, 120 Great Knots and 1 Pied Avocet

At the final raptor watch of the season at Radar Hill on 4th November, good numbers of birds were still passing through; the highlights being 13 Black Kites, 1114 Black Bazas, 1 Eurasian Sparrowhawk, 1 dark morph Booted Eagle, 1 Jerdon's Baza, 1 Greater Spotted Eagle and 1 Imperial Eagle - an impressive haul for the last day!

On the 3rd the raptor watch highlights were 9 Booted Eagles, including 1 light morph, 3 Black Kites, 1 Eurasian Sparrowhawk and 2600 Black Bazas.

Migrating raptors passing through Phuket on 1st November included 12 Oriental Honey-buzards, 10 Grey-faced Buzzards and over 200 Accipiters - Black Bazas, Chinese Sparrowhawks and Japanese Sparrowhawks.

06/11/07 : On the 1st and 2nd November a Ferruginous Flycatcher was photographed in a suburb of Bangkok - click for photo: Ferruginous Flycatcher. - Peter Ericsson.

Some good birds seen from Malee's garden at Chiang Dao were 3 Amur Falcons, 6 Black Bazas, 1 Common kestrel and 55 Chestnut-headed Bee-eaters all heading south and 1 White-browed Piculet actually in the garden, all on the 31st October. On the 29th an impressive 97 Amur Falcons were seen moving south at the same location as were 4 Black Bazas and 11 Chesnut-headed Bee-eaters.

Notable birds seen at Chiang Dao rice paddies on the 28th October were 5 Grey-headed Lapwings, 1 Eurasian Curlew, 40 Chestnut-tailed Starlings, 5 Oriental Skylarks and 2 Rosy Pipits.

Southerly movement observed again from Malee's garden, Chiang Dao, on 27th October included 39 Black Bazas, 20 Chestnut-headed Bee-eaters, 42 Chinese Sparrowhawks, 40 Ashy Minivets and a Changeable Hawk Eagle.

A trip up to Den Ya Kat, Doi Chiang Dao, produced a male Hume's Pheasant, an impressive 5 female and 12 male Silver Pheasants, 7 Amur Falcons, 1 Buff-throated warbler, 8-10 Giant Nuthatches and 40-80 White-headed Bulbuls.
